Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Gandhi Vidyashram was inaugurated by H.H.SwamiChidbhavananda of Ramakrishna Tapovan on July 5, 1983. Since its inception, Bhavan's Gandhi Vidyashram enjoyed the patronage of Bharat RatnaSri.C.Subramaniam whose vision and insight helped realize the fruition of several projects in the country. Padma Bhushan Prof. T.S. Sadasivan, a renowned scientist, guided its growth through two decades.

The school as it stands today owes its existence to him and ranks among the best of India, because of his untiring efforts.
